Land Use & Conservation

• Worked with other county supervisors to initiate community review and a comprehensive update of the county general plan.
• Sponsored scores of community planning town hall meetings for District 2.
• Brought in $250,000 in Sierra Nevada Conservancy grants for Calaveras County projects.
• Secured $40,000 to contribute to the development of the open space element of the county general plan.
• Resolved eight-year old land designation zoning dispute without litigation to preserve the rural character of District 2 on the issue of half-acre and one-acre parcels.
• Planted numerous trees and 8,000 daffodils with citizens of District 2.
• Sponsored meetings to facilitate planning and building of the Coast to Crest Trail as it passes through District 2.
• Advocated and reached agreement with Sierra Pacific Industries to gain access to U.S. Forest Service and BLM lands.
